Share models: links, QR codes and embeds
You can hand someone a link, a QR code or an embed of a model, and none of them require the other person to install anything.
Three ways to share
- Team link — for people already in your workspace. Enter their email to share it. The URL does not change, so it is safe to paste into your ERP or other systems.
- Visitor link — for clients, partners and anyone else without a Sibe account or license. No account needed on their side.
- Embed — drop the viewer into a page on your own website with the supplied code.
Both link types come with a QR code. Print it onto label paper and stick it on the part bin, so anyone on the floor can scan and see the model. Visitor links open on Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android.
What a visitor can see
A visitor link turns comments and markups on by default. Turn comments off in the share panel if you would rather they did not see existing feedback.
The viewer's Settings icon, upper right, switches between dark and light mode.
Workspace Owners get a Details panel as well: lock or unlock the file — locking stops it from being edited or checked out — see Where Used, and show or hide the markups bar.
What you can share
SOLIDWORKS® 3D CAD parts, assemblies and drawings, plus DXF, DWG, STEP and PDF.
Turning a link off
Switching a share back to workspace members only makes the existing link and QR code permanently inactive. Turning sharing back on generates a brand new randomized link and QR code. That is how you revoke access — the old URL never comes back.
Common questions
Does the person I share with need an account?
Not for a visitor link. They open it in a browser and view the model.
Are the links permanent?
They stay live until you turn them off.
Can I put a model on my own website?
Yes. Sibe gives you the embed code and the viewer runs inside your page.
Someone left the project — how do I cut their access?
Switch the share off. Their link and QR code stop working immediately.
A visitor needs help.
The chat help icon sits in the view area, with a Get Help option. They do not need an account to use it.
