Sibe July Update: Copy Design, Bulk Operations & a Faster Add-in

This release adds Copy Design, one-click bulk check-in and check-out, a cleaner Vault tab with search and filters, and a faster add-in.

In your workspace

Copy Design

Reuse an existing design without rebuilding it by hand:

1. Open the folder that holds the files you want to copy and choose Copy Design
2. Select the assembly and the parts you want to bring along
3. Sibe creates a new set of files with the references pointing at the new copies

Drawings come with them — if a part or assembly you copy has an associated drawing, Sibe copies the drawing too and points it at the new file.

Verify it worked: open the new assembly and check the References panel. You see the new parts, not the originals.

Free support access to your workspace

Add support@sibe.io as a user in your workspace and that user is excluded from billing. If you want us to look at something in your vault alongside you, add the account and we'll join and take a look. You are not charged for the seat.

In the SolidWorks add-in

One tab instead of two

The Changes tab is gone. Everything now happens in the Vault tab:

• All your top-level folders are listed in the Vault tab for faster navigation
• Auto cache, clear cache, open the local vault folder, and cache files have all moved out of the Settings tab and into the Vault tab
• The References tab is cleaner, with unused elements removed

Search, sort and filter

The Vault tab now has tools for working in a large folder:

• Search by file name
• Sort by column — click a column header, or choose sort from the toolbar
• Description column you can turn on and off
• Tree view and Vault view toggles
• Filters: SolidWorks files only, files checked out by me, and files with changes

The changes filter carries a count of the files you have edited. Click it and the list narrows to those files, ready to check in as a set. If a filter returns nothing, the Vault tab tells you — clear the filters to get the full file list back.

Bulk file operations

Check out, check in, lock and unlock multiple files at once, without leaving SolidWorks. Select the files you want and run the operation on the whole set. The same operations are on the right-click menu, along with check everything and uncheck everything.

Multi-select has been in the web dashboard since March. This release brings it into the add-in.

Behind the scenes: speed improvements

You'll feel this one — opening folders, caching, and checking work in and out are all quicker. We've continued work on the architecture behind Sibe, and this release ships the result. We held these changes until existing customers had moved onto recent add-in versions. That's done, so the improvements are live for everyone.

A typical edit, start to finish

Here's the flow the new tools are built around:

1. Check out the files you need from the Vault tab
2. Change the material, save the part, update the drawing, take your revision, and save the assembly
3. Add your notes
4. Click the changes filter to see only the files you touched, with a count
5. Select them all and check them in

Three files go back into the vault in one operation, from inside SolidWorks.

Frequently asked questions

Does Copy Design copy drawings automatically?

Yes. If a file you copy has an associated drawing, Sibe copies the drawing and points it at the new file, so you don't repair drawing references by hand afterward.

Where did the Changes tab go?

It has been removed. The changes filter in the Vault tab does the same job. Click it to see only the files you have edited, with a count of how many.

Where are the caching controls now?

In the Vault tab. Auto cache, clear cache, open the local vault folder, and cache files all moved out of the Settings tab.

Can I check in more than one file at a time?

Yes. Select the files in the Vault tab and check them in as a set, or use the right-click menu to check everything. Check-out, lock and unlock work the same way.

Will adding support@sibe.io increase my bill?

No. That user is excluded from billing.

Do I need to update the add-in?

Yes. Update to the latest version of the Sibe add-in to get these features and the speed improvements. You can download the latest version of add-in here.
