Sibe Add-In Installation Instructions

This procedure outlines the steps for installing the Sibe, SolidWorks, Add-In, including a recommended restart before initiating the installation process. A pre-installation restart helps ensure the operating system is in a clean state, potentially resolving any conflicts with existing programs or processes, according to Learn Microsoft.

  1. Prepare for installation
  • Check System Requirements: Ensure your computer meets the software's minimum and recommended system requirements (operating system version, processor, RAM, disk space). The Sibe Add-In is currently ~60Mb.
  • Create an Account or Log In: Use your work email and a secure password.

  • Download the Sibe Add-In: Obtain the software from this link. Sibe Add-In Download. Use of the add-in requires a Business or Business+ subscription.
  • Restart Your Computer: Before installing, restart your computer to ensure a clean slate and prevent potential conflicts with other applications or processes.
  1. Initiate installation
  • Locate Installation Files: Locate the downloaded software installer.
  • Unzip Installation Files: The downloaded installation file is zipped. Right-click and choose Extract All.
  • Launch the Installer: Double-click the downloaded installer file or navigate to the installation media and launch the setup program (e.g., setup.exe).
  • Grant Permissions: If prompted by User Account Control (UAC), click "Yes" to allow the installer to make changes to your system.
  1. Follow the installation wizard
  • Welcome Screen: Review the information on the welcome screen and click "Next" or "Continue".
  • License Agreement: Read the End User License Agreement (EULA) carefully. You'll likely need to accept the terms to proceed with the installation.
  • Follow On-Screen Instructions: Continue following the prompts in the installation wizard, which may include agreeing to terms.
  • Wait for Installation to Complete: The installer will display a progress bar as the software is installed. This process may take several minutes.
  1. Post-installation and activation (if needed)
  • Restart the Computer (Optional but Recommended): Some software installations may require a final restart to integrate completely with the operating system.
  • Launch SolidWorks: Open SolidWorks.
  • Confirm the Add-In is running: In SolidWorks, confirm the Sibe Add-in is running. Under Tools, go to Add-Ins. Make sure the Sibe Add-In is checked to run at Start-Up and is Currently Active.

  • Configure: On the taskbar, the Sibe Add-In tab is shown with the Sibe logo. On the Settings tab, it is required to enter your login credentials to connect the Cloud Vault to the Add-In. Also, browse to a folder on your local computer to select where Sibe will cache files from the Vault. It is recommended that the folder name not have spaces. e.g. SibeVault.
  • Check for Updates (Optional): Ensure the software is running the latest version by checking for updates. Here at Sibe, we are adding new functionality all the time. The add-in will show if there is a new version. If there is a new version, please start this process over.

By following these procedures, you can minimize potential problems during software installation and ensure that your new application runs smoothly.
