Articles on: Getting Started & Setup

Onboarding Videos (Sibe PDM Quick Training)

After watching this onboarding playlist in order, you’ll have a complete, working Sibe PDM setup for your SolidWorks team: your account and first project created, teammates invited, roles and folder access defined, and the SolidWorks add-in installed and connected to a clean local vault folder. You’ll also know the two main ways to bring your first SolidWorks CAD project into Sibe (local check-in via the add-in vs web upload), how to read file status/versions/workflow states and “where-used,” and how to review models in the browser with viewer tools, markups, and share links (including visitor access + QR codes for mobile).

Finally, you’ll be ready for day-to-day engineering work inside SolidWorks—browse the vault, check out, edit, check in with notes, and use rollback/undo checkout when you need to discard local changes (plus where to grab logs if support asks).

Key takeaways you’ll walk away with:

  • Team setup: invitations, tags, roles (Owner vs Member), and folder-level permissions.
  • Data onboarding: import your first project cleanly (local vs web) and avoid duplicate filename issues early.
  • Review & collaboration: web viewer, measure/section view, markups with @mentions/tags/attachments, and controlled sharing (links/QR/visitor access + reset).
  • SolidWorks workflow: vault browsing, check-out/check-in, versioning discipline, and rollback/undo checkout for safety.

To make sure you watch the videos in the right order, we keep the full onboarding series in a single YouTube playlist—each video is arranged in sequence from account setup through the SOLIDWORKS add-in workflow.

Open the playlist here and simply play from the top.

Onboarding 01 – Create Your Account

Create your Sibe PDM account from sibe.io, sign in, and land in your first project so you can start exploring the workspace basics.

Onboarding 02 – Settings: Invite Users & Create Custom Tags

Invite teammates by email and set up custom tags (name, color, description) to standardize comments and version notes across your engineering team.

Onboarding 03 – Users & Permissions: Owner vs Member + Folder Access

Learn the difference between Workspace Owner, Owners, and Members, then set folder-level access (public vs private) and override global roles when needed.

Onboarding 04 – Install the SOLIDWORKS Add-In (Setup, Vault Folder & Troubleshooting)

Download and install the SOLIDWORKS add-in, choose a recommended local vault folder, and verify the add-in is enabled (Tools → Add-Ins) if it doesn’t appear.

Onboarding 05 – Upload SolidWorks CAD Files: Local vs Web Upload

Import your first project either by copying files into your local vault folder and checking in via SOLIDWORKS, or by uploading files/folders directly in the web workspace.

Onboarding 06 – Cloud PDM Workspace Basics: File Info, Versions, Where-Used & Workflow States

Understand what you’re seeing in the workspace (versions, check-in/out status, workflow state), open file details, and use “Where Used” to see references.

Onboarding 07 – SolidWorks 3D Model Viewer: Create View, Measure, Section View & Objects Tree

Generate a web view for a SolidWorks model/assembly, then use the viewer tools like object tree, isolate/hide, measurements, section views, and screenshots.

Onboarding 08 – Markup on SolidWorks File: Comments, Mentions, Tags, Attachments & Share Links (Design Review)

Keep design review conversations on the model: @mention teammates, add tags, attach supporting files (like PDFs/specs), track status (pending/in progress/closed), and link directly to a specific markup.

Onboarding 09 – Share Links and QR Codes: Visitor Access, Link Reset, Mobile Viewer

Share SolidWorks models with workspace members or enable visitor access (“anyone with the link”), generate a QR code for mobile viewing, and reset links when you need to revoke access.

Onboarding 10 – SOLIDWORKS Add-In Workflow: Vault, Check Out/In, Rollback, Office Files

Walk through the core SOLIDWORKS workflow in Sibe PDM: browse the Vault, check out to edit, save changes, check in with required notes, and use rollback/undo checkout when you want to discard local edits.

Need help?

If you get stuck at any step (account setup, permissions, add-in install, check-in/out workflow), contact support in-app and share logs if requested—Video 10 shows where to access the logs folder from the add-in. Alternatively, email us at support@sibe.io.
