# Sibe installation from a security perspective

You can hand this page to IT and answer the four questions they always ask: what permissions the installer needs, where files land, what leaves your machine, and where it is stored.

Installing it? See **Install the Sibe add-in for SOLIDWORKS® 3D CAD** for the step-by-step, including the silent-install option for managed rollouts.

## What permissions are needed to install?

The Sibe install is no different from any other Windows program. Administrative permissions are required to install any software on Windows.

## How does Sibe connect to SolidWorks?

Sibe connects as a SolidWorks add-in. The connection is created during installation. SolidWorks must be closed while Sibe installs.

## What does Sibe install, and where?

Sibe installs only the files critical to running Sibe and the add-in. The location is shown during installation. You can change the destination folder, though the default suits most setups.

## What data is sent to the Sibe cloud?

Sibe has access to the folder you specify when you set up the add-in. That covers SolidWorks files and your sign-in credentials. You can upload additional files through the Sibe web dashboard. Everything that reaches the Sibe cloud is uploaded by you.

## Where is the data stored?

Sibe uses the Google platform for cloud storage.

## How is the data stored?

Sibe uses a proprietary storage method. Each customer's data and files are completely separate from every other customer's.
