Sibe Installation from a Security Perspective

Sibe Installation from a Security Perspective

This document outlines the Sibe Install from a security perspective. The perspective includes permissions, install location, and uploaded customer data.

  • **What permissions are needed to install? **The Sibe install is no different from any other program to be installed on Windows. Administrative permissions are required to install any software on Windows.
  • **How does the Sibe software connect to SolidWorks? ** Sibe connects to SolidWorks as a SolidWorks Add-In. This connection is created during installation. SolidWorks must be closed at the time of installing Sibe.
  • **What data does Sibe install, and where is it located? **Sibe only installs files critical to the operation of Sibe PDM and the add-in. The software location is shown during installation. The user can also change the destination folder, although this is not recommended

  • **What data is sent to the Sibe cloud? **Sibe PDM only has access to the folder specified in the setup of the Sibe PDM Add-In. This includes SolidWorks files as well as log-in credentials. Additional files may be uploaded through the Sibe web dashboard. All of these files that are sent to the Sibe cloud are uploaded at the will of the user.
  • **Where is the data stored? **Sibe utilizes the Google platform for cloud storage.
  • **How is the data stored? **Sibe uses a proprietary storage method. Each customer's data and files are completely separate from all other customers.
